This is simply a collection of places on the net that I think are worth mentioning to the outside world mainly because everyone should see them as they are uberly awesome. I'll update this page as and when I think of new sites/pages.
Web-comics are always a good waste of time, especially
Penny Arcade. Also worth a mention are
Ctrl+Alt+Del which is great for gamers,
Cyanide and Happiness for anyone with a sick sense of humour (which should be everyone really) and not really a comic, but in comic style with the funniest reviews in the world;
Zero Punctuation. Very much worth mentioning is my latest interesting read,
Questionable Content which is a great distraction for anyone into indie.
If you use
Linux at all (
which you should) then you should check out the
Wine project. Basically this is an open source program to let you run Windows programs on Linux, FreeBSD and Mac (although Mac support isn't that great at the time of writing this). That's right, all (or many) of your Windows programs, without the annoying re-installation of Windows every other week, no CD-Keys for Windows and horrible, horrible Vista. And there was much rejoicing.
MusicBrainz (Picard) is a program made entirely of awesome and pure genius. In short it takes your music files, makes a little unique fingerprint (takes about 1.5 seconds) and then looks it up. It then gives the song the correct Artist, Title, Album, Album Artist, Year, Track Number, Genre, Release and various other things. Saves you -so- much time and it is also useful if you have no idea what a song is, because it'll still be able to identify it from the sound itself. I recommend it to anyone who needs to clean up their tracks.
