Progression, it's like a program, but with more esson...

Well the diet seems to be going well, feel less "filled with cement" lately (although that may be more down to cutting the cement out of my diet, apparently it's not one of my 'five a day'). Not so tempted to eat crap now that I've got into the routine again. I'm proud of myself for one thing more than others now though, a monumentous achievement last night... I managed to turn down cheesy chips. I'm not sure how it happened, maybe the planets aligned or some sort of brain misfire happened, but either way I managed to avoid that diet disaster. Go me.

So, you're probably wondering why the picture of an astronaut, well it's what comes up when you Google "fit" apparently. Along with cock-rings. Go figure.

Fun fun foods and exercise

Diets are fun aren't they... no really they are... yeah... anyway that's my current quest, or rather my never ending quest these days. Need to lose a few stone, works well for a while but I end up eating things I shouldn't before it kicks in, almost like when I go out somewhere it's a free pass and what I eat there wont matter, of course it does and ends up nullifying the work I've done towards it. Not easy to diet when you're not a fan of almost any vegetables...

Trying to stick to eating a lot less now and only eating things very low in fat (and sugar if possible). Drinking crazy amounts of tea too but that's generally to make me hyper at work which in turn makes the retardedly retarded customers more barable to deal with. Rowing when I get a chance and mountain biking various places to help with the process so lets see if that is able to counter it all.

Here's to more willpower...

So, what's new in the world of me... not much to be honest. Friends are moving away, others seem to have moved away in... other ways and the quest to find that elusive "other half" still hasn't progressed past the point of 'not existing'. Work is still the same, full of the mentally retarded ringing in to get their fill of annoying sane people and trying to turn them into one of the leigons of "unsmart" and drain what soul they have left.

On the plus side, my music collection has grown somewhat which is nice. Added masses of classical music which is something it previously lacked.

Mom isn't getting any better, the cancer has pretty much set in now so she's having trouble sleeping, but she still seems pretty positive about everything but she doesn't really go anywhere anymore as it hurts to stay upright for too long.

Here's to things improving... fat chance of that.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
Posted on 25/12/2008 at 3:40 pm
Just posting wishing you all a merry Christmas and a Happy New year. Have fun all and hope you get all the presents you wanted and others to keep you happy and amused. Try not to make yourself sick from all the food and drink! Ho Ho Ho as the jolly fat-man would say (no, not John Candy).

Aaaaaahhhhh... time's short!

Christmas is great... except for the 'having to think of presents for everyone' bit which is damn near impossible when those people have no idea what they want (although I have to admin I'm guilty of that too but that doesn't count because I don't have to buy myself a present so shoosh).

So I've been off ill from work for 2 weeks so I've not really been up for anything, especially shopping leaving it dangerously close to Christmas now and my 'presents to people' ratio dangerously low. So now I'm feeling better (or at least I'm telling myself that) I have to try and sort something out, but I have no idea what to get most people! So what does everyone else do? How do you all cope? I mean there has to be some method of finding random things for people that they will like when they've not mentioned something constantly... right? Help!

I was writing a blog entry and I....

YouTube can get boring, especially when you try and look through the "most popular" section in need of amusement only to find it's 800 of the same stupid X-Factor videos which anyone that is interested in has seen a bazillion times on the TV already. This makes YouTube very much a "word of mouth" media, else you'll spend hours/weeks/months wading through the crap in hopes of finding something entertaining.

But don't let that put you off, there are diamonds lost in the rough there so when someone asks you to check it out, make sure they give you some specific keywords to go from else you too will be lost in the never-ending stream of waste that is 'things that 12 year olds find funny which aren't actually funny at all but they find it funny because they are young but also more likely because they are a bit mentally challenged, find wallpaper tasty and are unable to do their 1+1 math homework which is why they are on YouTube in the first place'.

So, what's worth watching? Well that depends what you like, chances are if you're on the internet now you may have seen everything that is worth watching on there, but new quality does appear every so often, so I'll leave you with a few quality videos. The Lonely Island - Jizz in my Pants, Saturday Night Live - Dick in a Box, Funtwo - Canon in Rock D and then anything by users that have real talent such as Zack Kim from Korea. Shame that music is very much ruined on YouTube due to the quality though. Same on you YouTube!

Ughhh......

Being ill is quite possibly the most un-fun thing ever. I mean the thought of time off work sounds great up until you realise the whole reason you're not at work is because if you so much as contemplate doing something, your head will likely implode. So yes, I'm off work, being very ill and wishing I had a magical "Pain go away kthx" drug, which unfortunately isn't available without prescription.

So, if anyone knows what illness has these effects; Imminent head implosion, eyes about to explode, dizziness, complete lack of memory, sore throat, chesty cough, aching muscles, fever - then please let me know. It seems even after watching House MD religiously I still cannot diagnose myself... who'd have thought...

Comics are cool, no really...
Posted on 27/11/2008 at 4:42 pm
If you think comics then you probably still associate them with kids but there are many worth reading by anyone, especially web comics which are normally the sketched version of someone's own sitcom. Who will like them? Well anyone that likes comedy cartoons and has enough patience to read will probably enjoy a web comic.

They range from informative to just plain sick so there's literally something for everyone and chances are you'll find more than just a few you like. So get out there and READ SOME COMICS, it's all good fun. My current personal favourites? Cyanide & Happiness and Questionable Content. Check the "Links" section of the site out for their webpages.

The quest for the ultimate note
Posted on 17/11/2008 at 9:14 pm
I'm starting to wonder if for many people, life is a quest to find that perfect song, or rather to acquire a collection of songs which allow the person to detach from themselves, losing themselves entirely in waves of music and losing all connection to the real world, somewhat similar to true meditation I'd imagine. And so people build libraries of music, all the while bringing them closer to creating a world of immersion in notes and tunes, taking them to places that life cannot on its own.

It's funny when you think it's all just people strumming wires and beating skin stretched over wooden bowls, but when put together it can do almost magical things. What is then more odd is how different music appeals to different people, their tastes even changing over time, the way that one song can be heart-touching for one, yet just an irritation to another. But over time you still remember them all, especially the ones that mattered or were just annoying to the point of being the subject of constant mockery, even if it does take the faint sound playing from a passer-by's headphones to jog that memory.

So when you're out buying your next CD, just think, why am I buying this? What does it do with my mind and what places does it take me to when I listen to it... where does my mind wander and how does it do this? Is this what is left of magic in the real world? Just food for thought regarding the fuel of the heart.

I am, the one and only...

So I've decided to add a newsy, bloggy, thingy front page instead to dump thoughts and news on. Maybe a good idea? Maybe not. Who knows. Let me know what you think via IM or eMail if you'd like and also if you have any ideas about what content you think would be worth-while on the site then also give me a shout.

Currently I'm developing this as a personal presence on the net, independent of Freespace and MyBook so that regardless of what happens to them, this will still be around, plus I'm free to do whatever with this, which is always useful. Time to get some dinner methinks.
